Police chief to check safety of accident-prone toll road

Timur PradopoNational Police chief Gen. Timur Pradopo says police will evaluate the safety of the Cipularang toll road, which has been the location of several accidents in recent weeks.

“We will evaluate everything, including its infrastructure,” he said Thursday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Members of the public have complained about parts of the road, which are said to be unsafe. The toll road witnessed seven deaths over the Idul Fitri exodus period, including the wife of dangdut singer Saipul Jamil.

Timur said he had coordinated with the regional police force regarding the matter.

“The regional police chief has put in place certain preventive measures and has also coordinated with the toll road management,” Timur said.

However, he also reminded drivers to play their part in ensuring road safety.

“Do not drive when you are sleepy,” he said.
