Two students of Haluoleo University (Unhalu) died after a brutal attack near the university campus in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, on Thursday afternoon.
“We've identified the victims as Laode Muhammah Hijra and Udin. Both were students of Unhalu,” Southeast Sulawesi Police chief detective Sr. Comr. Iswandi Hari said Friday as quoted by Antara state news wire.
Iswandi added that police were still investigating the time and motive of the attack.
According to initial police reports, Hijra, 23, had been stabbed in the waist, and Udin was stabbed in the neck.
The remains of the victims were taken to the Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Kendari for an autopsy.
Hijra's uncle, Laode Nggawu, said a friend of his niece had said Hijra had left his dormitory to visit his uncle when he was brutally assaulted by an unidentified group of youths.
