A reporter for local Top TV station, Mufliadi, was reportedly assaulted by South Sorong Regent Otto Ihalauw on Friday morning.
“Our reporter was hit while attempting to record a video on the sealing of South Sorong regency office by several local tribes as holders of the [collective territorial] rights,” Top TV chief editor Amir Siregar said Friday as quoted by Antara news wire.
Mufliadi said he was also hit by another official and public order officer in the regency during the incident, Amir said.
The incident reportedly took place at 9 a.m., and Mufliadi had called Amir to report it.
"We can't reach him anymore. The last time we heard from him he was being taken into a room at the regency office,” Amir said.
Amir said he would report the assault to the Press Council and police.
“I've told Mufliadi to conduct a visum and report the assault to the police,” he said.
At the time of writing, no comments were available from either from South Sorong regency administration or police in regards to the incident.
