Lamongan high school students make the grade with paper made from horse dung

Students from SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Babat, Lamongan, East Java, who created paper from horse dung, took first prize at the 2011 Business Plan ASEANpreneur Idea Canvas Competition in Singapore.
The award for the innovation was presented before the National University of Singapore (NUS) on Aug. 26, 2011 and received a recommendation to participate in the Green Product competition in the United States.
The innovation was created by the team consisting of Davina Balqis, Dyah Ayu Vivid Nurfaidah and Muhammad Teguh, earning them Singapore $1,000.
The team presented their work before a professor from Stanford University of London Prof. Tom Khosnik, Director of ASEANpreneur Sheng Yu, Associate Director of NUS Wong Sang Wuoh and many university students from various countries.
Davina Balqis said Saturday in Lamongan that they received training to present their work for four hours a day before public presentation.
Mohamad Teguh said Prof. Tom Khosnik credited the originality of their work, but added that all needed perfection. He recommended the works be included in the Green Product competition in the US next year.
