AKARTA: German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz named on Thursday the new chief executive officer of its Indonesian branch, Claus Weidner, who replaces the previous head, Rudolf Borgenheimer, who retired on Sept. 1.
Weidner, who previously served as the chief operating officer at Mercedes-Benz Hongkong, would officially take up his position on Nov. 1, a press release sent to The Jakarta Post said.
“My goal is to preserve and enhance the performance of Mercedes-Benz Indonesia as the leader of the premium vehicle segment in the country,” said Weidner who earned a PhD in Japanese Economic and Social History from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany.
As of May this year, PT Mercedes-Benz Indonesia reported it had sold 1,259 passenger cars from a target of 3,900 cars. Last year, the company sold 3,590 passenger cars.
