Tourists from China, India expected, future visitors to Bali
French culture observer Jean Couteau predicts that in the next 10 years, foreign tourists to Bali will be dominated by citizens from China and India with the countries new titans in the global economy and politics.
Couteau said at a Sudamala culture discussion in Denpasar on Friday that there had been a revolution in the social and cultural system with the rise of new powers. China assumes new power, dominating the economy, while India strengthens its foothold in the global political arena.
According to Couteau, China and India would reset the global system, including the tourism sector on the resort island.
"For that reason, we should ready ourselves to prepare right and effective instruments to welcome that [change] so that we can cater to the needs of the visitors from the two countries," he said as quoted by Antara.
Meanwhile, Bali culture observer Prof. Darma Putra highlighted that local mass media played an important role in promoting Bali tourism and helping develop a tourism industry that supported Bali communities.
