The National Police say that they will track down all culprits involved in vandalism, arson and violence in Ambon, Maluku and bring them to justice.
“We will enforce the law,” National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam said on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said the police would follow up with legal proceedings on the rioters after the situation was completely under control.
“We are currently focusing on pacifying the situation. The investigation is still underway,” Anton said.
Rioting broke out on Sunday after rumors surfaced that a motorcycle taxi driver had been tortured to death.
Six people were reportedly killed during the unrest, which also left many houses damaged.
