A team of doctors took Siti Rahmah, a baby who was born with a heart growing outside her chest cavity, to Jakarta to provide her better access to medical treatment.

“We have agreed with the plan to bring her to Jakarta,” said Siti’s father, Khairuddin, on Saturday as quoted by Antara news wire.

Khairuddin said he had signed a statement, within which he understood the risks that might have threatened his daughter had they arisen during the flight to Jakarta.

A team of doctors from Harapan Kita hospital in Jakarta referred Siti to Jakarta.

Antara reported that Siti left Ibnu Sina hospital at 12:30. She was placed inside an incubator box attached to an oxygen tube.

Dr. Totok Wisnu from Harapan Kita hospital along with several paramedics and Siti’s parents were seen accompanying Siti.

Siti Rahmah was born five days ago from couple Khairuddin and Diana from Muara Basung village, Pinggir, Bengkalis, Riau. She was diagnosed by doctors of having a rare problem with 90 percent of her heart growing outside her body cavity. She also has a narrowed blood vessel in her lung causing a lower level of oxygen in her blood.

Siti, who came from a poor family, received attention from the public after a photojournalist spread word on the social media, including Twitter, so that Siti received widespread sympathy and donations for her treatment from citizens across the country.
