A resident of Bangka, an island east of Sumatra, set fire to a house belonging to a relative's family and caused the father and two children to suffer severe burns, early on Monday morning.
A member of the family, Tulus, awoke to find his living room ablaze, apparently after a burning motorcycle had been placed nearby. As Tulus he approached, the arsonist, Santoso, pushed Tulus into the fire.
"The incident occurred at around 4 am. We were all asleep. I was shocked when I woke because I saw Tulus in the living room with his body in flames," Tulus' wife said Monday as reported by tribunnews.com.
Tulus' wife and two children attempted to help but were also pushed into the flames by Santoso. Tulus' wife was able to avoid injury, but Tulus and his two children suffered severe burns.
The three are currently being treated at Sungailiat hospital.
