1st ever social media fest to start Thursday

FX mall in South Jakarta will host the first ever Social Media Festival on Thursday.

“This festival will be like a social media version of Java Jazz,” Syarief Hidayatullah, brand campaign manager of SalingSilang.com, the organizer of the festival said Tuesday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

The Java Jazz festival is an annual event in Jakarta, which is one of the largest jazz events in the world.

Syarief said there would be a talk show with influential account figures in social media. “There will also be music and games,” he said, adding visitors could come to the event for free.

Indonesia’s phenomenal boy band Sm*sh, Dahsyat music show and a thousand guitars for children of the nation community will be part of the music event.

“We will extend our appreciation to the Jalin Merapi and National Traffic Management Center for their ability to use social media for public service and coordinate volunteers, donations and logistics distribution when Merapi erupted in October last year,” he said.

Indonesia is one of the biggest social media users in the world, therefore, he expected the festival could attract attention from the international community.
