Four members of the House of Representatives budget committee met investigators at the offices of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Jakarta on Tuesday, responding to a KPK summons over a suspicious transmigration project budgeted by the Manpower and Transmigration Ministry.
“I want to explain,” budget committee speaker Tamsil Linrung said, referring to allegations of corruption involved in the project, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Tamsil’s three colleagues — Melchias Markus Mekeng, Mirwan Amir and Olly Dondokambey — declined to discuss the case with reporters while entering the KPK building.
Earlier, all three suspects in the case — I Nyoman Suisnaya, Dadong Irbarelawan and Dharnawati — had said that the budget committee had been involved in the bribery linked to a transmigration project worth Rp 500 billion (US$ 56.5 million).
