South Jakarta Police says it is looking for the student owner of a Twitter account by the name of Gilang Perdana, who says he was involved in the assault of journalists in front of SMA 6 high school on Jl. Mahakam in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Monday.

"We will investigate this case piece by piece, including statements made on Twitter by someone who names himself Gilang Perdana," South Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr Imam Sugiyanto said Monday.

Imam added that his team would also investigate the cause of the incident by questioning both journalists and students involved, including Gilang, who is reportedly a student of SMA 6.

"If [Gilang] says he [assaulted] the reporters then we need witnesses to prove it," Imam said, adding that police may also question Gilang's school friends.

"I feel relieved now after beating up the journalists. I was so angry," Gilang says in his Twitter feed.

The comment angered many people who condemned the assault. The owner of the @Gilang_Perdanaa account repeatedly attempted to change the name of the account later in the day.

Imam added that police would also check allegations that several school teachers were also involved in the attack.

Students of SMA 6 high school allegedly assaulted several journalists from various media organizations who were staging a protest against an earlier attack last week on a TV journalist implicating students at the school in violence.
