AntaraAntaraIn the aftermath of an assault on several journalists in front of SMA 6 High School in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, the school administration has instructed students to stay home from Tuesday to Saturday.

The announcement was posted on the school's official website.

The website also instructs parents to monitor their children's studies at home. Classes are expected to resume on Monday, it says.

"The case involving the journalists is being [investigated] by South Jakarta Police and relevant institutions. We ask that students do not to come to school until Sept. 5," it says.

Jakarta Education Agency chief Taufik Yudi Mulyanto said his office had received a request from SMA 6 principal Kadarwati for a four-day hiatus following a spate of alleged violence implicating students at the school.

"I think it's good step to calm the situation down," Taufik said Monday evening as quoted by the official city website, beritajakarta.com.

Taufik, who is himself an alumnus of SMA 6, expressed his concerns over the violence, adding that he had instructed the school management to impose sanctions on students involved in the attack.

"We need to carefully investigate what really happened in the field. The sanctions should be imposed properly and accordingly," he said.
