Agency hopes to process birth certificates independently

The Jakarta Civil Registration Agency is working so that Jakarta residents can obtain birth records for their children directly at the agency without having to go through the high court first.
Agency chief Purba Hutapea said his team was waiting for a decision by Jakarta High Court to allow the agency to issue birth certificates without court processing.
He added that once the high court had granted its permission, the agency would issue 80,000 birth certificates to children in Jakarta.
"We are certain we can resolve the problem of birth certificates before the end of 2011, provided that the high court approves this decision immediately," Purba said Wednesday as reported by tribunnews.com.
