After watching the performance of rap-metal purveyors Linkin Park at Bung Karno soccer stadium on Wednesday evening, Surakarta Mayor Joko Widodo, popularly better known as Jokowi, said he was impressed with the way the Californian rock back organized the stage performance.
"The way they manage the spectators is excellent. The show ran in order. I love their lighting," said Jokowi as quoted by tribunnews.com on Thursday.
Jokowi said that he learned a lot about how to manage a concert during the show.
He said that he wished to be able to invite legendary band Metallica to his city, which is better known as Solo.
Jokowi did not detail how he would realize his wish.
Jokowi has made his name thanks to his hard work in restoring the cultural city. He was reelected for a second term to lead the city in a direct election. Early this year, he challenged his superior, Central Java Governor Bibit Waluyo on a plan to build another mall in Solo. The governor even called the mayor “stupid” because of the objection. The statement angered most residents of Solo who stood behind Jokowi against the governor.
