Prosecutors object to Antasari's expert witness

Prosecutors involved in the review of the Antasari Azhar murder case objected on Thursday to the convict’s move to present forensics expert Abdul Mu’nim Idris as a witness, arguing that he has already testified at an earlier trial.

“We know that forensics expert Mu’nim Idris has already been questioned and has been given absolute freedom to explain the incident during a previous hearing. Therefore, we basically object to the presence of Dr Mu’nim,” prosecutor Eri Yudianto said at South Jakarta District Court on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.

Antasari responded by saying that recalling Mu’nim was necessary because of the prosecutors' own carelessness.

“We would not have [presented Mu’nim] today had the prosecutors been thorough with the case documents, which should include photographs,” Antasari said.

He explained that the case evidence had been handled according to procedure, including visum results and several photographs. However when the documents were declared complete there were no photographs included.

“The trial also proceeded without photographs. With all due respect, we hope the prosecutors understand our request,” Antasari said.
