Housing developers under Real Estate Indonesia (REI) have prepared houses around Jakabaring Stadium in Palembang, South Sumatra, for SEA Games 2011 athletes and officials in case there are not enough rooms at hotels and dorms for the contingents.
South Sumatra REI chairman Moerod said that 300 houses, which could hold a total of 2,000 people, had been prepared.
"Our assumption is that every house can accommodate a minimum of six people because the houses we provide are quite large and should be comfortable," Moerod said Thursday.
However, the houses were unfurnished, he said.
"Housing developers only provide ready-built and ready-to-live-in buildings," he said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Moerod added that developers would leave it to the games committee to decide on the method of payment for the houses provided.
"As long as there is an official request from the governor and committee, we will make preparations," he said, adding that REI had not received any request from the games committee as yet.
