A drunk policeman, First. Adj. Insp. Jacob Temaluru, shot his colleague, First Adj. Insp. Putu Artha, in his right thigh with a revolver, at a bar in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, on Thursday.
Jacob is currently being detained at the West Manggarai Police station.
"Jacob was drunk when the shooting happened. He became angry when Putu accosted him and he shot him [Putu] while in an uncontrolled state," West Manggarai Police chief Samsuri said, as reported by kompas.com.
He added that, besides facing legal punishment, Jacob will also be given a disciplinary punishment.
The incident began when Jacob started to yell in the bar in a drunken state. The bar's security officers then requested Putu's help in trying to calm Jacob down.
Instead, Jacob shot Putu and then escaped into a nearby forest, before being caught by other West Manggarai Police officers.
