Bomber intended to harm many: Police

After a preliminary investigation into the Surakarta church bombing, the Central Java Police are convinced that the bomber intended to hurt as many congregation members as possible.

Central Java Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Djihartono said the suicide bomber waited for the crowd to exit the church before detonating the bomb.

“The method was that he waited for the congregation to leave the church. Once they were on their way out, he drew near and blew himself up,” Djihartono said Sunday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He added that it appeared that the bomber carried the bomb around his abdomen.

The suicide bomber was killed in the incident and at least 14 others were injured.
