Eight injured in Solo church suicide bombing

A suicide bomber died triggering a bomb at the GBIS Bethel church in Solo, Central Java, injuring eight people.

The incident occurred as the congregation exited after mass at around 11 a.m.

"The perpetrator mixed in together with the congregation on their way out," Suharto, a security guard, told tempointeraktif.com on Sunday.

Suharto said he noticed the alleged bomber beforehand.

Apparently the bomber hid an explosive device underneath his shirt. "His stomach was destroyed," Suharto added.

Eight congregation members injured in the blast were taken to Dr. Oen Kandangsapi Hospital. The church building remains intact.
