AKARTA: The Jakarta Police say they will heighten surveillance of local churches after an apparent suicide bomber killed one and injured eight at the Sepenuh Injil Bethel Church (GBIS) in Kepunton, Solo, Central Java, on Sunday.

“The police chief has given instructions to secure Jakarta so things will remain conducive,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharudin Djafar said Sunday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

“Whether more personnel will be placed at houses of worship, that is up to the the respective metropolitan police divisions,” he added.

A bomb was detonated at the church in Solo around 11 a.m., killing the suspected bomber and injuring at least eight.
