YOGYAKARTA: Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairman Busyro Muqoddas says that the antigraft body will not question deputy chair Chandra M. Hamzah over accusations from graft suspect Muhammad Nazaruddin that Chandra accepted bribes.
Busyro said the commission’s ethics board had rejected Nazaruddin’s request to confront Chandra with all of his allegations.
“Nazaruddin asked the committee and the commission rejected the request,” said Busyro on Saturday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Former Democratic Party politician and treasurer Nazaruddin is currently a suspect in an alleged bribery case centering on the construction of the athlete’s village for the upcoming SEA Games in Palembang, South Sumatra.
Nazaruddin said that he had met with Chandra to ensure the KPK would not investigate the project. Chandra has denied this.
