The Jakarta Transportation Agency said it had been checking public minivans with tinted windows and found that 1,412 minivans had tinted windows with a darkness level of more than 70 percent.
“We ripped off the tinted film of 1,412 public minivans in which the darkness level was more than 70 percent. This is an effort to make public vehicles safer and more comfortable for passengers, particularly female passengers,” Jakarta Transportation Agency Udar Pristono said Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
Pristono elaborated that of the 1,412 vehicles caught with dark tinted windows, 58 were ticketed for not possessing complete documents, while another 15 were deemed unroadworthy and banned from operation.
“I hope that drivers and public minivan owners are now willing to remove their tinted film without being checked. But if they don’t and are not wary, then we will keep conducting checks for the next 70 days,” he said.
