Anti graft activists filed a report against Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday for the alleged embezzlement of social aid funds from the 2011 Provincial Budget.

“We suspected that Ratu Atut was involved in embezzlement that inflicted Rp 29.5 billion (US$3.33 million) in state losses, so we filed a report against her to the KPK,” the Independent Alliance Care for Public spokesman Uday Syuhada said on Wednesday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Abdullah Dahlan, activist from the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), a member of the alliance, said embezzlement indications included the use of fictitious institutions and recipients receiving grants twice or not fully receiving their allotments.

The alliance also suspected that some of the grants were channeled to the governor’s family.

Some bodies that received the funds were led by members of Ratu’s family including the Banten chapter of the National Handicraft Board, led by Ratu’s husband, which received Rp 750 million.
