A 22-year-old man identified as Kelvin committed suicide by jumping from Emporium Pluit shopping mall’s parking building in North Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon, a mall spokeswoman said.
“(The body) was found at 17.25 p.m at the police precinct near the mall,” mall spokeswoman Priscillia Moningka said Wednesday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
The police crime scene investigation revealed that the suicide was likely premeditated as Kelvin was believed to have climbed a high wall to get to the edge of the building from where his car was parked.
“It was around 1.5 meter tall, thus he would have needed to use ladder. You can also see traces of his handprints on the wall,” she said.
Police say that Kelvin’s body, wearing a black shirt and jeans, was unscathed and identifiable.
The body was immediately taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for a visum et repertum examination.
