ANJARBARU: Hundreds of travelers were stranded at Syamsuddin Noor Airport in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Thursday after thick haze from forest fires forced airplanes to remain grounded.
Flights which were delayed included those heading to Jakarta operated by Batavia Air, Lion Air and Garuda Indonesia.
Airport authorities did not provide information on when flights were expected to resume. “[I] have to wait for the next notification because [the planes] can’t fly yet. They said it’s because of bad weather,” a passenger, Abdul, said as reported by tribunnews.com.
