N. Jakarta extends office hours for e-ID registration

North Jakarta administration says it will extend its office hours until 8 p.m. for new e-ID registrations, in efforts to speed up the collection of data.
“We will also open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” North Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency head Edison Sianturi said Friday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
He added that the extended hours had been well received by residents, especially those who found it hard to spare time during normal working hours.
“More people actually come at night — around 60 to 70 percent,” he said.
In some areas, e-ID registration has been stalled since August because of equipment distribution problems at the Home Ministry.
As of Friday, 51,200 residents of North Jakarta have had their data recorded for the new system.
