East Kalimantan still lacks enough general practitioners to serve the public health, an official said.
According to data released by the East Kalimantan health agency, to this date the province has only 957 doctors serving a population 3.5 million, while the ideal people to general practitioner ratio was 40 doctors per 100,000 people.
Health office head M. Syafak Hanung said the province still needed 1,420 more doctors.
“Therefore, the local administration intends to award incentives to general practitioners to meet the ideal ratio,” he said on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
