Bogor outplays Senayan; GMIS, Rebels in tie

JAKARTA: Some red-hot cricket was dished out during another exciting weekend of play in this year’s JCA Apple Coal League on Sunday.

Sent in to bat after losing the toss, Bogor notched up an imposing 267 for 6 in their allotted 35 overs against Senayan in Cibubur. Rising Indonesian ‘star’ Muhaddis was outstanding with the bat, scoring a magnificent 69 runs with fine support from Andre Siahaan, Scott Masson and Faheem Muhammed.

In reply, Senayan just could not come to terms with the brilliant bowling of Bogor’s Eki Antaria, who returned season-best figures of 6 for 45 with Faheem Muhammed providing good support.

On yet another hot and humid day in Karawaci, the Rebels chose to bat first and posted a healthy 228 for 8 in their 35 overs against GMIS CC. Matthew Cox was the top-scorer for the Rebels with a polished knock of 72 runs with skipper Marten Eddy and Cameron McNamara helping to boost the total. Mohammed Imran bowled his heart out for GMIS CC and his captain Anil Yadav chipped in with 2 for 33.

Needing 229 for victory, GMIS CC were precariously placed at 118 for six in 24 overs, still needing 111 runs off just 11 overs with only 4 wickets in hand. However, the Rebels wilted under pressure in the final stages as the GMIS CC late-order batsmen took up the challenge with some well-controlled aggression to come within a ‘whisker’ of claiming an unlikely victory.

GMIS CC was bowled out for 228 in the very last ball of the game, resulting in an exciting ‘tied’ game. Rajesh Rathod, Partha Kabi, Mohammed Imran and Mohit Singh were the architects of the GMIS CC fight-back whilst Deevz Haridas and Amardeep Sharma were the best of the bowlers for the Rebels.

After the latest round, Bogor heads the table with 24 points, followed by GMIS CC (18) and WISCI Wanderers (14). Ceylon, Challengers, TOPI XI & Menara follow with 12 points each.
