The two-day Investor Summit and Capital Market Expo is scheduled to commence on Wednesday at the Indonesian Stock Exchange in Jakarta, with organizers hoping the event will help attract members of the public to invest in the stock market.

"The theme is Investing in Capital Markets: A Journey to a Better Future," Indonesia Stock Exchange chief director Ito Warsito said Tuesday.

This will be the sixth time the bourse has organized such an event, given the interest seen among individual investors at past events.

"We have targeted to receive 2,000 [investors], but 2,448 have signed up," Ito added as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

The summit is expected to be officially opened by Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo.

A similar summit will also be held at the Grand City Mall in Surabaya in November.
