Telcos summoned to discuss dubious deductions

The Communication and Information Technology Ministry on Wednesday summoned phone operators to a meeting related to recent complaints it has received from customers concerning unwarranted deductions to phone credit by dubious short text messages.
However, the meeting, chaired by ministry spokesman Gatot S. Dewa Broto and held at the ministry's headquarters in Central Jakarta, would be closed to reporters, kompas.com reported.
The meeting is being held after the ministry was swamped by more than 400 letters of complaint from mobile phone users who had experienced unwanted deductions from their cellular credit.
