Jakarta Statistics Agency notes that the number of foreign tourist visiting the capital was down to 147,999 travelers in August, from 205,861 in July.

"August was the fasting month so [tourists] decided against travel to Indonesia," Jakarta Statistics Agency chief Suherman said Wednesday.

The biggest decrease was seen among travelers from Malaysia.

"Malaysia usually comes first. However, they were in third place in August," he added, as reported by kompas.com.

However, the Jakarta Culture and Tourism Agency points out that the number of foreign tourists will likely increase again nearing Christmas and the New Year period.
