City disburses Rp 12b microcredit

JAKARTA: The Jakarta administration has disbursed Rp 12 billion from the Rp 26 billion earmarked for community programs in the city.

Deputy Governor Prijanto said on Wednesday that the city had received Rp 16 billion and expected to receive another Rp 10 billion package soon.

“It will be disbursed shortly,” Prijanto said.

The money will be used to pay for the National Program for Community Empowerment (PNPM) and the City Program for Subdistrict Empowerment (PPMK). Both PNPM and PPMK aim to establish microcredit programs in
impoverished areas and help subdistrict residents create small businesses.

The funds are to be distributed to 266 subdistricts in the city.
