JAKARTA: Commission III of the House of Representatives had a difference of opinion during the meeting with Justice and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar in his capacity as Corruption Eradication Commission selection-committee head.

The Golkar Party, as well as the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), Peoples Conscience Party (Hanura) and Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) asked the selection committee to provide 10 candidates. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party supported by National Awakening Party (PKB), United Development Party (PPP) and National Mandate Party (PAN) agreed with the eight candidates that were submitted to the House.

Deputy head of Commission II Azis Syamsuddin said that based on the KPK Law article 30 verse 9 and 10, the House should pick five out of the 10 candidates.

“This means that the number of candidates should be 10,” Aziz said.
