The government through the Federation of Indonesian Rural Cooperatives (Inkud) has asked investors from Malaysia and Thailand to develop cassava plantations and production plants in West Java.
Inkud has prepared 400 hectares of land for plantations and 6,600 square meter site on which it has proposed a cassava processing plant could be built, in Sumedang, West Java, Antara news wire reports on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Inkud chairman Herman Y.L. Wutun said that aside from the business perspective, developing cooperation with foreign partners was essential for knowledge transfer.
“We need to focus on this industry, especially in processing the raw materials, cassava, into chips,” he said.
Herman added that the federation intended to export its products to China, South Korea and Japan.
