The Golkar party says President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono should explain why former maritime affairs and fisheries minister Fadel Muhammad was replaced, as he had performed well in the Cabinet.
“It would be wise of the President to spare some time to explain his thought process for the replacements, especially to those who were doing well,” Golkar patron Akbar Tandjung said on Wednesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said Golkar politician Fadel’s disappointment was natural after unexpectedly being removed from his post.
“Maybe he [Fadel] thought he had been doing a good job, working diligently and seriously; his communication with the President has also been good. I wouldn’t have thought there was a problem,” Akbar said.
Akbar added that the party would hope to take advantage of Fadel’s great potential as it looked towards the 2014 elections.
“He has potential. I have told him to dedicate himself to the party as we head into the elections,” he said.
