Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Mari Elka Pangestu says she relishes
the challenges of her new job, given the potential of the country’s vast
creative economy.
“I feel that this new task is very challenging. It is amazing that we have a
ministry that is tasked with managing and developing creative economy,” said
the former trade minister Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
She said that Indonesia’s
creative economy contributed to 10 percent of the country’s total export value,
employing 7.7 million workers.
As part of her first 100-days target, Mari said she would establish a new
organization to mark the presence of creative economy work in a ministry
previously known as the culture and tourism ministry.
