Text your say: Cabinet reshuffle

A- A A+

Your comments on the Cabinet reshuffle, a hot topic of public debate since being announced by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono:

A Cabinet reshuffle is the President’s prerogative. However, he is likely to fail again for not daring to keep the well-performing ministers for the sake of his political party’s convenience instead of pro-poor policies.

The new ministers will, consequently, see to it that they work for their parties, even if it means going against pro-poor policies. SBY should know better than this.

Another objective should be added to the new Cabinet: to immediately make it illegal for any company or person to advertise, promote, sell, give or make available any tobacco product to children below the age of 18.

Considering that our macroeconomy is doing pretty well, I agree with the President that the Cabinet has solved eight problems that needed to be solved in the next three years.

Among the new ministers, I think Dahlan Iskan is the most promising, looking back at his reforms in the PLN. I’m not too sure about the rest, though.

I hope that the newly appointed ministers will do their best for the country, not for the ruling party or their parties.

I pray for all leaders to unite regardless of their political differences to work toward Indonesia’s future.

For those newly appointed deputy ministers, I reckon they do not realize that they are now working for the Democratic Party instead of their country.

If they do, I will not be surprised if they join the Dems at the end of SBY’s administration meaning that both are making the best use of each other.

I am tired of reading about the power play drama, clash of egos, etc. How is this relevant to the Indonesian people? How will people’s lives improve after they become Cabinet members?

The more things change, the more they stay the same. It is just business as usual. Who would expect anything else?

The Cabinet reshuffle, so far, has only resulted in the appointment of an abundance of deputy ministers.

Although these assignments in fact have nothing to do with the presidential Cabinet, a lot of criticism has been voiced by the public.

Whoever shall be dropped or appointed as Cabinet ministers seems not important, because only strong leadership from the President himself can guarantee the best performance of his Cabinet.

What reshuffle? This is overstuffing an already bloated Cabinet of non-performers who we, the taxpayers, must pay the salaries of.

One of the worst decisions of this President!
