Samarinda: Bontang General Hospital in East Kalimantan has been accused of malpractice by a woman who underwent intestinal surgery.
Laely Avidah, 28 is currently being treated at AW Syahranie Hospital in Samarinda with part of her intestines outside of her abdomen.
Mustofa, 30, Laely’s husband, said his wife underwent a caesarian section at the Bontang hospital three months ago. The operation was successful and the baby was delivered safely, he said.
However, Laely underwent a second operation for intestinal problems, Mustofa said, adding that one week after the operation, Laely experienced intestinal hemorrhaging. The doctor decided to shorten her intestines but the results were not good. “As her wounds were not healing properly, I had my wife transferred to AW Syahranie Hospital in Samarinda,” he said.
A similar case occurred at the Bontang hospital two years ago when 10-year-old Nanda experienced internal bleeding for years until the surgeon agreed to conduct a second operation.
