Lawmaker to star in movie

Model-turned-politician Wanda Hamidah plans to star in a movie after a 10-year hiatus from showbusiness. The movie, titled Pengejar Anging (Wind Chaser) will be directed by prominent filmmaker Hanung Bramantyo.

“I feel like everything has fallen into the right place right now, the opportunity, the director and also the other cast members,” Wanda said on Friday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

She said that the only reason she agreed to be in the film was because she felt that it contained inspirational messages, and the messages fit her vision and mission as lawmaker.

Wanda, who was also once a TV news anchor, is now a member of the National Mandate Party and of the Jakarta City Council.

“I hope people enjoy this movie. This movie is my first and surely will be my last,” she said.

Wanda said she would play the role of Dakuta, the wife of a robber who would do anything to keep her children in school, even if she had to go head to head with her own husband.
