Argentine president wins landslide re-election

A- A A+

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez has been re-elected in a landslide, with the widest victory margin in the country's history.

Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo says Fernandez has 53 percent of the votes with 15 percent of polling stations tallied nationwide. Her nearest challenger has just 17 percent, giving Fernandez the widest victory margin in Argentine history.

Randazzo predicts the president's share will rise, saying only 1 percent of the votes in her coalition's stronghold of Buenos Aires province has been counted.
