PDIP says presidential candidate issue can wait

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) has more important things to discuss than the party’s next presidential candidate, a party official says.
“We still have plenty of time to [select a candidate]. Besides, there are still many other priority issues right now waiting to be discussed,” PDIP-P secretary-general Tjahjo Kumolo said Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
Tjahjo cited the current heated tension in Papua and deadlock in the House of Representatives' deliberations on the social insurance agency as more pressing issues.
When asked about the result of a recent survey that found that Megawati Soekarnoputri, PDI-P's most influential figure, was still its most popular figure, beating her own daughter Puan Maharani, Tjahjo said the party wanted to investigate the finding before making an announcement.
