Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Andi Malarangeng has called out to the country’s young generation to master three languages: Indonesian, English and their regional dialect.

“Now is the time for us to agree on one thing: Develop Indonesian youths who can compete without losing their national characteristics,” Andi said Friday at an event held in connection with the 83rd Youth Pledge day, in Bandung, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Andi added that the key to turning Indonesia into a competitive nation, especially in terms of its economy, is to produce young independent entrepreneurs.

“Young people also have to be entrepreneurs to improve the economy at national and international levels. At the moment, one of our obstacles is a lack of appreciation for young and independent business people,” he said
