The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has forecast heavy rains and strong winds in Jakarta and its surroundings in the coming week, warning residents to be prepared and to keep alert.

“Strong winds with speeds above 35 knots will hit Jakarta next week. Preparations are required,” BMKG’s climate change and air quality division chief Edvin Aldrian said Saturday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

He added that the capital would officially enter the rainy season next month, with the significant increase of rain volume.

Edvin also warned residents of thunder storms in the coming week.
