NDONESIA: Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa has spent the past two days meeting various VIPs in Myanmar during his friendly visit.
The visit was organized among efforts to check the country’s readiness in relation to the ASEAN chairmanship in 2014.
“The visit was mandated by all ASEAN member countries to get relevant updates regarding the country’s readiness for the ASEAN chairmanship,” the Foreign Ministry says in a press release received by The Jakarta Post on Saturday.
Myanmar was originally scheduled to take up the chairmanship post in 2016 but later proposed to hold the post in 2014 instead.
