Papua cases must be solved soon: PKS

Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) president
Luthfi Hasan Ishak said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono must solve recent
cases in Papua quickly following deadly incidents in the country’s easternmost
province.
"We are concerned about the cases," Luthfi
Hasan Ishak said as quoted by Antara news agency after a PKS regional meeting in
Medan on
Sunday.
He said the PKS was saddened over the cases in Papua,
which claimed lives and led to various negative excesses.
Luthfi said the PKS had conveyed its opinion to the President
about the cases in Papua, which it considered very serious and reflected on the
nation’s commitment to unity.
He said the cases in Papua were all related to the
Papuan people’s concern over four state pillars: state unity, the 1945
Constitution, unity in diversity and Pancasila state ideology.
”If one of the state pillars is under threat, the
government should take a firm and bold step. A fast response to the problems
should be made soon."
However, the government should also make no mistake in
its attempts to resolve the conflict, he said.
