President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono plans to name a girl and a boy who were born on Monday in Indonesia's celebration of the world's 7 billionth person.

Welfare Minister Agung Laksono said on Wednesday in Jakarta that the President would name the two babies once he had returned from his working visit to France this weekend.

“The world's population became 7 billion on Oct. 31. The seven billionth babies were born on Oct. 31, and the President has been given the opportunity to name them,” Agung said as quoted by kontan.co.id.

The boy was born in East Java at 7 a.m. on Monday.

“He's the first son of an Islamic boarding school teacher,” Agung said.

The baby girl was born in Payakumbuh, West Sumatra, at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. She is the first daughter of a small-business owner.

Agung said that after naming the two babies, the President would deliver a speech regarding population issues such as birth control.

Indonesia, the world's fourth-most populous nation, is home to 241 million people.
