KPK files appeal on Mochtar acquittal

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has filed an appeal request to the Supreme Court in regards to the Bandung Corruption Court ruling that acquitted Bekasi Mayor Mochtar Muhammad from all charges recently.

“We insist that we gathered enough evidence and witnesses that supported the graft accusations. We expect this time the panel will issue a different [verdict],” KPK spokesman Johan Budi said Wednesday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Mochtar was accused of multiple counts of graft during the Bandung trial, including the alleged attempted bribery of members of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), amounting to Rp 900 million, in a bid to get Bekasi's financial report approved.
