The government of Saudi Arabia has donated 21 cattle for residents of Sekaroh village in Jerowaru district, West Nusa Tenggara regency of East Lombok.
The donation is part of celebrations of the Islamic Day of Sacrifice, Idul Adha, observed by Muslims worldwide, due to fall on Sunday.
Muslims generating better incomes commonly donate in the form of cattle, goats, lambs or camels to their less privileged fellow Muslims during Idul Adha.
Jerowaru district head Purnama Hadi said on Saturday in East Lombok that this was the first time the Saudi authorities had made such a donation in the area.
He said the 21 cattle would be slaughtered on Sunday, after the joint Idul Adha prayer in the morning.
The meat, Purnama said, would then be distributed to 1,500 families in the area, Antara reported.
