Govt must quickly resolve Papua conflict: Kalla

A- A A+

Former vice president Jusuf Kalla has urged the government to resolve the conflict in Papua because it might expand if not quickly addressed, such as happened with the conflict in Aceh.

“The government must immediately resolve the conflict by using good communication and seeking solutions,” he said Tuesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Kalla said that the conflict had occurred due to the inequality of economic development as opposed to religious and racial differences.

He said that Papuan people were concerned about the economy and not about religion, race or culture.
